Hi guys! I added a new Children's Dictionary to the bottom of the language page (Kids Wordsmyth). You can help your child learn how to look up child friendly definitions that often include a small picture as well. If your younger child is working on learning a certain letter that week, the Picture Dictionary tab is a great resource as it has illustrations of words organized by letter. You could incorporate that into your activities. The World and Collections tabs also are worth exploring as well! You may need to create an account, but as far as I can tell, it is a free account.
I just added some information and resources to the Conscious Discipline section of the website. You can find it by going to the page called "LCS, Hartsfield, and Conscious Discipline Updates & Info".
I wanted to let you all know that I just added another link for interactive online learning games in many subject areas through a website called Pink Cat Games. The link is at the bottom of my Language Page. (The games are cute; however, I just tried out some 4th grade games and found a spelling error (arond instead of around), and a grammatical error (the class were instead of the class was) in two activities. Please be aware there may be a few small errors, and have your child help you find the mistake if there is one!).
I also updated some information on the AAC page. There are some great ideas for how to model communication using your child's AAC device from the AAC Coach posted. This website will be an ongoing project. I will aim to have a new Blog post weekly on this page (the Speech & Language Room News page); I will also make a post here to document any changes or updates to the separate pages here too so you guys can have a quick reference to see what pages have been updated recently. This is not affiliated with Hartsfield Elementary or Leon County Schools, but was shared through the Conscious Discipline Facebook page...Click on the image below to view their promotional video about the conference. You can also go to this link to register or read more information. I sent you all an email about this a few minutes ago. It seems to be geared more towards educators; however, you may find something worthwhile!
